The Heathland Course: A Challenge for Golf and Travel

Michael Althoff of the German magazine Golf and Travel says that the Heathland course has a unique character that makes it special. With spectacular views and a challenging yet playable layout, this course is not to be missed!

The Heathland course is the second course at La Hacienda Links Golf Resort and was designed by Dave Thomas, known for other courses such as Almenara, Abama in Tenerife, The Belfry in the United Kingdom and Robinson Golf Club Nobilis, also appreciated by German golfers.

Golf and Travel emphasises that from the first shot, it’s clear that Heathland course is not an easy layout. With a design that demands a combination of technique and strategy, Dave Thomas created a course at La Hacienda Golf that forces the player to fully focus on the game. The fairways extend between hills, the greens rise like platforms, and each hole is designed to make you think, suggests Althoff. If you let yourself get distracted, the course will make you pay.

The German journalist particularly highlights the middle stretch, with holes as beautiful as they are challenging, where the landscape and design come together to offer a playing experience that goes beyond technique – a course that rivals the best golf courses in Germany.

Kilometers of Strategy, Not Distance

The Heathland stretches between 5,272 and 6,373 meters, but what really makes it seem longer is its uneven terrain and blind tees. Althoff points to the second as an example, a par 5 that begins with a blind tee shot and requires precision and concentration on the second shot. Another example is the fourth, which demands more calculation than courage.

The course also features doglegs and rough areas that test even the most experienced golfers, as Michael Althoff describes in his article sharing his experience at the Heathland Course.

Challenging for All Skill Levels

Golf and Travel concludes its article by mentioning that the Heathland course features two challenging holes. The 17th is a long, uphill, headwind-driven par 4, where bunkers on the right complicate the second shot. The 18th, also a par 4, requires playing to the right to avoid the bunkers on the left and attack the green.

According to Michael, this course offers a wide variety of challenges, especially between holes six and 14, making it an exciting course suitable for players of all skill levels.
